Homework & Reading Information
Children will receive homework each week to support and reinforce what we are learning in class. Homework will be given out on a Friday and should be returned by the following Wednesday.
I encourage the children to try their homework as independently as possible, but please do offer support if needed.
Alongside homework, regular reading at home makes a huge difference to your child’s progress. Our Little Wandle approach encourages each book to be read three times to build skills step by step:
Decoding – sounding out and blending words.
Prosody – reading with fluency and expression.
Comprehension – understanding and discussing what has been read.
Thank you so much for supporting your child’s learning at home — it really does make all the difference!
Reading Books & Library Books
Each child will be given a school reading book to bring home. Please return both the reading diary and the school book every day, as this allows us to read with your child in school whenever possible.
Reading & Reflection Areas
We have a dedicated reading area in our classroom with a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction books, which the children really enjoy exploring.
We also have a reflection area where children can take time to think about anything that has happened in class or at home during the week. This space also provides the basis for our class worship.
General Reminders
PE takes place on Fridays. Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit (navy blue shorts/joggers/leggings, white t-shirt, pumps/trainers, Copp hoodie/cardigan/jumper).
Note: Grey or black shorts/leggings/joggers are not part of our school kit.
Long hair should be tied back and jewellery removed before coming into school.
Please label all items of clothing clearly.
In Key Stage 1, the children receive free fruit as a mid-morning snack.
If your child would like to have milk, please register and pay via www.coolmilk.com. Cool Milk will then add your child to the list, ready for the following week.
Finally
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to catch me at the end of the school day or email me at parent@coppschool.lancs.sch.uk.
Thank you for visiting our class page — I look forward to working together to make this a happy and successful year for your child!
