ONLINE SAFETY DECLARATION
'Thank you for giving my child the advice because she obviously listened and took it upon herself to take control when they were feeling overwhelmed with a particular situation. You have empowered a 9 year old child to take action, stand up for themselves and take control when something wasn't right. Those skills are something I cannot teach alone.' Parent, Year 5
At St. Anne's Copp, our children are supervised when they are on the computers, but we also teach them strategies for coping with issues they may find when they are on the Internet. This gives them future life skills and makes them aware of the potential hazards of the Internet.
Every half term, we hold an online safety focus which looks at different strands of being online and how children can protect themselves against risk.
All children will cover the following online safety topics, pitched appropriately for their age:
- Self-image and identity
- Online relationships
- Online reputation
- Online bullying
- Managing online information
- Health, well-being and lifestyle
- Privacy and security
- Copyright and Ownership
There are many sites to help and support parents; please see a selection of these below. However, if parents or carers wish to discuss any online safety issues with school, we are happy to meet with you.
