AIMS: We believe that all children are entitled to a broad, relevant and balanced programme of Physical Education which aims to develop and maximize the potential of each child, being differentiated to meet their needs. We aim to encourage an appreciation and enjoyment of movement, developing strong growth mindsets for our children, who will be keen to continue to keep fit and to incorporate regular physical activity into a healthy lifestyle.
Providing access to physical activity and supporting children in learning to appreciate the importance of physical activity for their health and wellbeing is a shared responsibility among the school, home, and community. All children should be physically active during their time at Copp.
Physical activity at Copp will include scheduled PE instruction, including gymnastics, games, dance, athletics and outdoor and adventurous activities from EYFS to Y6, swimming lessons in KS2. It will also include other forms of scheduled physical activity: movement activities within the regular classroom, movement activities in other school environments, as well as organized sports or games. Physical activity does not have to take place in the hall.
