Year Four
Happy New Year and welcome back!
Welcome to Year Four
WORKING FROM HOME
This half term most children will be working from home.
All work will be uploaded to Class Dojo the evening before so that it is ready for the morning after. Children are required to complete the English (spellings, reading, writing and SPaG tasks), the maths (Fluent in Five, Flashback Four and Whiterose sheets) as well as a topic based lesson in the afternoon each day.
We will have 1 or 2 weekly Zoom class chats. I will also post videos of myself giving tutorials and reading class books too.
Please message me on Class Dojo or e-mail me on ch@coppschool.lancs.sch.uk if you need to make contact with me during this time.
Mr Holt.

Maths and English Targets
The Year 4 children have maths and English targets (which are in the back of their relevant books). Please ask your child their current targets as they should know them.
Homework
Spelling homework will be given out on a Friday and children must learn the spellings for the following Friday. Homework will also include using TTRockstars, Mathletics, Prodigy, Dreamscape and Spelling Shed on a weekly basis (the children have their log ins for these on their log in bookmarks).
Reading Books / Library Books
Reading Books will be given out on a Tuesday and a Friday. At school your child will have the opportunity to read to a member of staff at least two times a week (including our guided reading sessions).
Reading, Writing, Reflection and Design Areas:
We have a dedicated reading area in class. The reading area has a wide selection of new books that the children may choose from on a weekly basis.
There is a writing area for two children to work at for extra work on things such as sentence structure, handwriting and SPaG.
We have a reflection area where the children are allowed to spend time reflecting upon anything that has happened in class or at home that week.
Before and After School
At the beginning of the school day, before registration (8.30 – 8.55 depending on arrival time) the children will have different maths, reading and writing activities to complete throughout the year.
School finishes at 3:15pm. Children will be dismissed from the foyer door (please follow the one way system when collecting them).
General Reminders
The children will be doing PE twice a week and they may wear their kits all day on Wednesdays and Thursdays. PE kits consist of suitable trainers, black or blue shorts / sports trousers, a white T-shirt and their blue Copp jumpers / cardigans.
The children must also bring in their own water bottles and hand sanitiser in from in from home, but please make sure that they are labelled also.

Arithmetic Videos
I've put together these arithmetic videos to help show families the methods that we use in Year 4 in maths. Please watch these and share these with your children, especially if they find certain aspects tricky!
