Year Six

Welcome to Year 6

WORKING FROM HOME

This half term, spring 1 2021, most children will be working from home.

All work will be uploaded to Class Dojo the evening before so that it is ready for the following morning.  Children are required to complete the English (spellings/PaG, reading and writing tasks), maths (Fluent in Five, Flashback Four and maths activities) as well as a topic based lesson in the afternoon each day.

During the week we will catchup on Zoom, instructions will be given through video tutorials as well as reading of this half term's class book too.

Please message me on Class Dojo or e-mail me on ja@coppschool.lancs.sch.uk if you need to make contact with me during this time.

Thank you,

Mrs Macdonald

Class Teacher: Mrs Macdonald
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Stone
PPA Teaching: Mrs Twigg or Mrs Taylor

Maths and English Targets

The Year 6 children have maths and English targets (which are at the front of their relevant books).  Please ask your child their current targets as they should know them.

Homework

English and maths homework will be given on a Friday to be uploaded to Class Dojo by the following Wednesday at the latest please. Spelling homework will be given on a Wednesday and needs to be completed by the following Wednesday. TTRockstars, Prodigy, Dreamscape and Spelling Shed are all available for the children to use at home - they have all their usernames and passwords on their bookmarks.

Reading Books / Library Books

Your child will continue to have access to reading books either from the school library or from class. Children should be aiming to read every night if possible as reading is vital to the whole curriculum.

Reading Area

We have a dedicated reading area in class. The reading area contains a wide selection of books and magazines that the children are able to choose from each week.

Before and After School

At the beginning of the school day, before registration (8.30 – 8.55 depending on arrival time) the children will have different maths, reading and writing activities to complete throughout the year.

School finishes at 3.15pm. Children will be dismissed from the balcony. If you are happy for your child to walk/cycle home on their own, please contact the office.

General Reminders

The children will be doing PE twice a week, on a Thursday and Friday. Please come to school in PE kit on these days. PE kit consists of blue/black shorts/leggings/track suit bottoms, a white t-shirt and their Copp jumper/cardigan.

The children may also bring in their own water bottles from in from home, but please make sure that they are labelled also.

Finally

I hope that this will be an enjoyable year for all the children. Please feel free to contact me if there are any problems or anything which you wish to discuss with me.
