Welcome to Reception
May I take this opportunity to welcome you into the Copp family. This is such a special time in the school life of your child and we look forward to getting to know you and your child. As they put on their uniform for the first time I’m sure you’ll be brimming with pride but wonder where the time has gone since they were a baby!
**School Closure Information**
During the current lockdown, due to COVID - 19, we are providing online learning for our children. This is maths work using White Rose Maths materials, alongside daily counting and number work activities. Phonics and reading/writing activities are also shared to engage children in their learning throughout the week.
Play and family time is extremely important during this uncertain time and we encourage that this forms the basis of all activities that are completed at home.
Please follow the school Facebook page and the EYFS Twitter (@mrhardingCOPP) to see what exciting things are happening at home.

*We are always looking for parent / grandparent volunteers to help with reading and classroom jobs, even a couple of hours a week is a huge help, with the promise of tea, coffee and biscuits! Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in helping us in class.*
Every half term we will have a broad topic title. Throughout the year, adults and children plan what we will learn. As inspiration, most of our learning will be based around a story. Working together to shape our learning and experiences means everyone is motivated and engaged in what we do. Our ideas can take our learning in many exciting directions.
This year we will be studying the following five topics:
Autumn 1: Superheroes
Autumn 2: Can you breathe like a dragon?
Spring 1: People Who Help Us
Spring 2: Traditional Tales
Reading Books / Library Books
Each child will be given a reading diary and some school books to bring home to read. Please leave a comment in your child’s reading diary so that school staff know how much of the book has been read. We will also check each the children's reading diaries frequently to see if they require new books to take home.
The children will be doing PE on a Monday, with other Physical Development learning throughout the rest of the week. Please ensure that your child has their PE kit (white t-shirt, shorts, plain tracksuit bottoms, pumps and trainers) in school at all times (and all clearly labelled).
The children may also bring in their own water bottles from in from home, but please make sure that they are labelled also.
In Key Stage 1 the children receive free fruit as an afternoon snack and will be encouraged to try everything.
If your child wishes to have milk please visit the website www.coolmilk.com and register. Cool Milk will then add your child to the list, ready for the following week.
Tapestry is a lovely way to share experiences from school and home. We would like to hear and see photos of what you have been dong at home. Have you been to grandma’s house, a party, played a game or have been to the park?
I would again like to thank you in advance for all your support this year and if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me on ClassDojo/Tapestry or come in and see me.
Thank you for visiting our class page!
