Pupils

At Copp, we encourage our pupils to be a key part of the running of our school, creating their own rules, organising clubs, joining committees and generally making a difference to our school community, but also the wider community ... including our villages and the world beyond.

We consult with them regularly about issues which affect them, either directly or indirectly so that we can tailor our curriculum to their needs, support them when they need any sort of help or reassurance, spend our budgets wisely to prepare them for future life and help them to be the very best they can be - all of which are encompassed within our Christian vision.

We currently have 7 committees/groups:

The Junior Leadership Team (JLT) run by Mrs Melvin which is made up of Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Girl; these children go through an application process and staff decide who will be given the roles.

Copp School Council (CSC) run by Mr Harding which is made up of 2 or 3 children from the classes in Y2 to Y6.  They also have to go through an application process, but the voting is done by the children in their class.

Team Captains, run by Mrs Macdonald.  These children are elected at the end of the summer by the staff.

The following groups are made up of 2 to 3 children from each class (Y3 - Y6) and the children volunteer to be a part of these.  We try to ensure that all children have the opportunity to join a group during their time at Copp.

Values Group.  These children work with Miss Pixton to monitor reflection and prayer areas, create and develop quiet spaces, evaluate worship and many other things to ensure that spirituality and our Christian vision, and consequently our Christian values, are at the heart of everything we do.

Online Safety Group.  These children work with Mr Holt to promote online safety within school and also for families.

Friendship Group.  These children work with Mr Giles - this group was created so that no child feels alone or without friends. We think it will be particularly useful from September 2020, when the children return after lockdown.

Gardening Committee.  This evolved from the work done by our gardening ladies!  We wanted to make the most of our beautiful setting and develop the school grounds so that children would be able to better appreciate God's creation.  This group is run by Miss Hardy.
